This year it is exactly 60 years since the Dutch tolerance policy was introduced in 1976 and coffeeshops sprung up all around the country and flourished to almost 2000 around the country in the nineties. Since then, the country has only had right leaning governments and the total number of coffeeshops is now down to under 600.
